Sir,
Chief Justice' Chambers,
Supreme Court, Hongkong,
15th August, 1919.
In reference to Your Excellency's letter of 12th July forwarding the draft of a Bill to amand the Legal Practition- -ers Ordinace I have the honour to state that, whilst approving of the objects of the measure, I have taken the opportunity of conferring with the Attorney-General on certain of its details, and as a result of our conference the Attomey-General has amended
the draft in certain minor respects.
I anticipate that the Bill will meet with strong opposition from a certain section of the legal profession but, apart from its objects, it has the advantage of being based upon
the Indian precedent.
I am sure Your Excellency will agree that as I may have to construe and administer the Ordinace it is highly desir- -able that my concurrence with its objects should not be stated.
I have etc.,
(Sa.) W. Rees Davies,
Chief Justice.
His Excellency
Claud Severn, Esq., CM.G.,
Officer Administering the Government.
